About Us

In the Spring of 2011 a group of parents gathered together to discuss concerns about some recent events that had occurred in the Alamosa School District.  An initial meeting was held and each parent provided a list of concerns.  In looking at the list, it became apparent that communication was at the core of almost each and every concern.  The group rallied together and took the charge of seeing if they could, in a positive and proactive manner, assist with communication between the school district and parents.

Over the next six months, going by the name of A-PAGE (Alamosa Parent Advocacy Group for Education), these concerned parents met to see how to best coordinate efforts as well as improve and facilitate parent communication.  During this time each parent began taking a more active role by studying policies and attending the various district meetings (including: school board, building accountability, and PTO.)  A mission statement was developed and supporting goals were formulated.  A website/BLOG was also created as the means of communicating with others throughout the district.  Recognizing the need for more formal organization, by-laws were drafted and set in motion for the formation of a committee.  On November 1st, 2011, with the election of officers, A-PAGE was officially established.
